Jury Rejects Claim for Millions Against Survivor Co-Creator
February 26th, 2016

A Los Angeles Superior Court jury issued a verdict overwhelmingly in favor of BGR client Conrad Riggs, who with Mark Burnett helped create the smash-hit television shows Survivor and The Apprentice. The lawsuit was brought by Riggs’s former assistant, who demanded money for consulting work provided in 2000 and 2001. BGR partner Eric George successfully argued that most of the plaintiff’s claim was expired, and that the plaintiff’s damages demand on the remainder of the claim was unfounded and illogical in several key respects. Although the plaintiff demanded around $15.4 million, the jury awarded only $489,850. Following the verdict, the trial judge remarked: “This was probably one of the highest level preparation cases I’ve ever seen in terms of not only the preparation, but the presentation was excellent in all respects.” Assisting George at trial was BGR attorney Corbin Barthold.
